TPI or Total Physical Interaction is a technique to make Qur’an learning and understanding of Salah easy. It has been approved effective in many parts of the world. People learn it and teach it.

TPI method helps not only in learning different forms of a verb but also in explaining the meanings of verbal forms.

For example: تُرْجَعُون (tur-ja-‘oon) can be shown with just single sign (right receiving hand, raised high with four fingers). Here a single TPI action shows five things:

  • Masculine (right hand)
  • Shown towards you (2nd person)
  • Four fingers (plural)
  • Raised high (Mudare’ مضارع or Imperfect tense)
  • Receiving hand (passive voice)

While teaching TPI method of Qur’an learning, it is very easy for the teachers to get feedback even from large audience because if student is making sign right, it means he/she understood the concept.

Dr. Abdur Rehman Hafeez holds Phd degree in Hadith Sciences from International Islamic University Islamabad. He did his Aalim course from Markaz Dawah Salafiyah Faislabad. He did Tajweed ul Quran from Jamia Islamia Rawlakot AJK and Hifz ul Quran from Asriya Jhelum.
